Top Tips for Freshers – How to Make the Most of Your University Experience

Congratulations! You’ve made it to university! This is an exciting chapter of your life, filled with new experiences, challenges, and opportunities. Whether you’re living on campus or commuting every day, there are some things you need to know to make the most of your university experience.

As an events and ticketing company, we’ve learned a thing or two about what makes freshers’ week a success. Here are our top tips for freshers’ students as you begin your university journey.

Bring your ID with you

You’ll need your ID to get into bars, clubs, and other venues around campus. Make sure you bring it with you wherever you go, as some places won’t let you in without it. You can either bring your passport or driving license with you, as they both work as valid forms of identification.

There is nothing worse than buying tickets for a night out, queuing in the lovely British weather, and then realising that you don’t have your ID.

Take a jacket out with you

The weather can be unpredictable, especially during freshers. Make sure you take a jacket with you when you go out, as the nights can get cold. This is especially important if you plan to stay out late or if you’re attending an outdoor event. You don’t want to end up shivering and damp when the party’s just getting started.

Download all the taxi apps and make sure you know your route home

If you’re planning to go out, make sure you download the Uber, Bolt or other taxi apps before you leave your dorm. This way, you can easily find a ride home if you need one. Before you head out for the night, make sure you know your route home, as the chances are you won’t want to rely on your drunk self to figure it out. Be especially careful when taking a night bus or walking home from town.

Take your multi-vitamins – freshers flu is real

Freshers’ flu is no myth – it’s a real thing, and it can hit you hard if you’re not careful. You’ll be exposed to plenty of germs during fresher’s week, and your immune system might need a bit of extra support. Taking a multivitamin supplement can help you stay healthy and prevent you from catching the dreaded fresher’s flu.

Join societies and clubs

Joining societies and clubs can be a great way to meet new people with similar interests. Whether it’s a sports team, a drama club, or a music group, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. This is also a great way to develop new skills and learn more about yourself in the process. You’ll meet like-minded people to hang out with and potentially find new lifelong friends.

So to conclude, University is a time of learning, personal growth, and adventure. You’ll be better prepared to make the most of your freshers’ week and your entire university experience. Remember to bring your ID with you, take a jacket out with you, download all the taxi apps, take your vitamins, and join societies and clubs. Most importantly, feel free to have fun, but always drink responsibly and look out for yourself and the people around you. We wish you all the best in this exciting new chapter of your life!
